Our program foundation includes the fundamentals that come from over 50 years of boxing experience but has also been re-engineered to include all the latest science on motor learning, nutrition, and athletic performance.

AGILITY AND FOOTWORK
There should be a "method" to learning any martial art-
Our program utilizes a series of drills to develop the fundamentals of boxing which include timing, hand speed, footwork, power and precision. These begin as very simple motor learning drills designed to set the foundation for form or footwork and evolve into more complex drills that can take a lifetime to master. The goal is to keep the fighter developing their skills no matter what level of fighter they are or what kind of shape they are in. Our program has at its foundation the elements that have been used for 100 years to train boxers. Most of these techniques are used because, well, they work; however, we have taken these tactics and re-designed them taking into account the latest science on motor learning and fitness to supercharge their effectiveness. We still employ "old school" techniques but apply them in a modern scientific manner.
Our program varies dramatically from many other schools because we center our program on results not ceremonial displays designed to create the illusion of progress. Other schools spend 80% of their time working on learning to "put on a show" to sell more martial arts memberships.
We do not rely on uniforms, belt promotion events, board breaking, or any other pageantry to simulate progress in the martial art. The goal is to learn the martial art not to learn to "look like" you know the martial art.
You WILL absolutely learn to be a capable fighter at our academy (even if you have no interest in actual fighting). Any local fight promoter will tell you that Method Boxing fields only the most capable athletes. We constantly monitor our program for results, if something does not work, we replace it with something that does.
Employ periodic undulation to avoid overtraining-
Periodic undulation is just a fancy scientific term for "training variety". Training variety is crucial to keeping our bodies in an anabolic (muscle building) state otherwise the metabolism slows into a state of stagnation and results slow, or even stop completely. At method boxing your program will constantly evolve to include a huge variety of movements. This is necessary both physiologically, but also psychologically; to keep your mind engaged and having fun with your exercise program.
Train the mind THEN the body-
Our brain is our biggest ally and our biggest enemy in any fitness endeavor. Until we have overcome the multitude of mental blocks which have been programmed into us throughout our lifetime we cannot hope to make lasting changes in our physical bodies.
Our program is structured in a manner to challenge you mentally. For kids this means developing the character traits which parents are looking for from a martial arts program; for adults this is more complicated.
Boxing has the capability of bringing to the forefront any character flaws which may exist within you which gives you the opportunity to work on them. This "mental element" to our program is crucial to our weight loss and fitness clients. At method boxing you will find tools to help you find out and target the areas where you need to make progress mentally so that you can reach your fitness goals.
